4-Methylmethcathinone (4-MMC) is known as mephedrone. It is a research chemical for which there is as yet no scientific knowledge about consumption and the associated risks and side effects.
What is clear is that it is a stimulant/empathogen. Mephedrone is available as a powder or in tablet form.
Orally consumed, the effect starts after about 30-60 minutes and lasts for about 3-5 hours.
Nasally consumed, the effect starts after approx. 5-10 minutes and lasts for approx. 1-2 hours.
At present, little is known about the risks of mixed consumption.
However, due to the profile of its effects, mixed use with other substances that lead to an increased release of serotonin (e.g. MDMA) can be assumed to be potentially dangerous.
In particular, mixed use with MAO inhibitors, certain drugs (DXM, tramadol) and generally all antidepressants and neuroleptics is strongly discouraged. Mixed use of mephedrone with some of these substances could also lead to serotonin syndrome.
Do you know that your pill/pow contains mephedrone:
Have the pill/powder (if possible) analysed to estimate the dose!
wait for full effect, do not refill immediately
Tablets should not be taken nasally (water-insoluble substances can lead to lumps in the lungs)
With unknown pill/unknown powder
Test = 1/2 pill or just a small line, wait 2 hours and see how it works.
If 4-MMC (mephedrone) is suspected, do not add more!
In general, it should be borne in mind that the consumption of substances that are still relatively new and unexplored can always represent an increased risk potential due to their potential long-term effects that cannot be assessed.
No consumption during pregnancy, cardiovascular diseases or high blood pressure.
With mephedrone, a rapid dose increase and tolerance development, as well as psychological dependence, can occur.
Current pill warnings can be found on www.checkyourdrugs.at under “news” or on www.drugscouts.de under “pill warnings”.
People with mental illness, cardiovascular problems, liver and kidney disease or diabetes should not take mephedrone!
Consume mephedrone only when you feel well!
Take food after consumption to prevent weight loss! Counteract calcium deficiency (dairy products, nuts) and ensure sufficient fluid intake through water and vitamin-rich fruit juices!
Avoid carrying out responsible activities (no driving!).
Always use your own clean tube!
When using sharp-edged tubes for sniffing (e.g. banknotes, plastic straws), minor injuries to the nasal mucosa may occur and small traces of blood may stick to the tube.
If the same tube is used by several people, there is a risk of infection (herpes, hepatitis C)!
Nose care! Chop the powder as small as possible, rinse your nose from time to time [1 spoon of sea salt at ¼ litres of warm water].
Mephedrone increases the willingness to deliberately cross boundaries and to avoid safe sex. This increases the risk of infection with HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
Sex and mephedrone only work if there is mutual agreement and trust. On mephedrone you may do things you would not normally do. Clarify in advance which sex practices you both want and which you do not want.
Sex on mephedrone can be very aggressive and not very partner-related. Consume only enough to defend yourself or to recognize your partner’s defensive signals.
Before getting down to business, make sure you have enough safer sex paraphernalia (gloves, condoms, lubricant) ready.
On mephedrone, the sensation of pain and touch from your cock is usually reduced and it can become more difficult to cum.
If the fuck takes longer, change the condom every half hour.
Watch your body! If you see anything unusual, see a doctor immediately. Have yourself tested for sexually transmitted infections and vaccinated against hepatitis A/B every 6 months with different sex partners.
HIV & Mephedrone
At present, little is known about the risks and interactions of mephedrone. Take drugs and HIV medications with a time delay. This may reduce interactions somewhat. Always keep the dose of drugs low when taking medication at the same time. Often the night will be long – take enough drugs with you and keep to your schedule. Talk to your doctor about the interaction of your HIV medication with intoxicants!
The mode of action of protease inhibitors (ritonavir (Norvir/Kaletra)) can lead to dangerous increases in the level of mephedrone in the blood. Caution, there is a great danger of unintentional overdoses. Likewise, the effective level of the HIV drugs can increase, thereby increasing their side effects.
You can find information on the interaction of substances and HIV drugs here.
