Therapy as prevention

Treatment as prevention, along with PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and the condom, is effective protection against HIV infection. Treatment as prevention means that an HIV-positive person cannot transmit HIV if the treatment is successfully applied. The following conditions apply here:

• The viral load (the number of viruses in the blood) of the positive person should have been below the so-called detection limit for at least six months and should be examined by a specialist at regular intervals (approx. every 3 months).
• The HIV medication is taken correctly and regularly.
• Treatment as prevention only protects against HIV, not against other STIs. Condoms can offer additional protection here.
• Condoms, PrEP and therapy as prevention reliably protect you against HIV and can be combined with each other.

Get tested at least once a year for HIV, Hep C and other sexually transmitted infections (STI)! Swabs on your dick, ass and throat give you the security to find everything that does not belong there! Vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B are possible.
