Safer Use

• Usually the intoxication starts about thirty to sixty minutes after taking the drug. The nature of the effect of LSD is highly dependent on the mood of the user. For unlike many other established drugs, LSD does not automatically produce a positive, controllable experience, but rather intensifies the already existing state of mind and makes repressed emotional content conscious.
• LSD disables habitual control mechanisms and reflexes.
• Intensive perception of your own emotional world and thus also of personal conflicts and repression mechanisms.
• Even very general negative states of mind, triggered for example by a separation, the loss of a loved one or the loss of a job, can be intensified by the intake of LSD.
• Under certain circumstances, taking LSD can trigger severe seizures in people with a disposition (predisposition) to epilepsy. For this reason, people who have had an epileptic seizure in the past should definitely avoid taking LSD.
• The use of hallucinogens (LSD, psilocybin, etc.) should be avoided at all costs in the case of known schizophrenic psychoses, manic-depressive disorders and also borderline disorders.
• Do not use LSD or other psychedelic substances on a full stomach and practice “psycho-hygiene”. That is, be mentally and physically light and carefree. If you’re not “light-hearted”, then avoid it!
• Only take LSD together with people you know well and trust!

Safer Sex

• LSD can change the way we look at reality, relax boundaries and lead us to live out our sexual fantasies – this carries the risk of not having safe sex, which increases the likelihood of transmitting HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
• Sex and LSD only work when there is mutual agreement and great trust. Especially with LSD there is always the danger of a bad trip. Therefore, you should only experience sex and LSD together if you know each other and the effects well. Clarify in advance which sex practices are desired by both of you and which are not.
• Dose low, so that you can defend yourself or still recognize defensive signals from your partner.
• Before getting down to business, make sure you have enough safer sex paraphernalia (gloves, condoms, lubricant) ready.
• Watch your body! If you see anything unusual, see a doctor immediately. With different sex partners have yourself tested for sexually transmitted infections every 6 months and vaccinated against hepatitis A/B.

HIV & LSD

• Take drugs and HIV medication at staggered intervals. This may reduce interactions somewhat. Always keep the dose of drugs low when taking medication at the same time.
• Often the night will be long – take sufficient medication with you and keep to your schedule.
• Talk to your doctor about the interaction of your HIV drugs with intoxicants!
• There are no known dangerous interactions with HIV drugs. If protease inhibitors and sustiva are taken at the same time, an undesired increase in the effect may occur.
