Safer use:
►You’ll start getting high on psychadelic mushrooms around 20 to 40 minutes after you ingest them. Although their effects are similar to LSD, there are some differences. The trip will likely be less pronounced and easier to handle, meaning it is possible to get high in a more relaxed way.
►A trip will usually last about six hours – this is significantly shorter than with LSD.
►Psychadelic mushrooms can enable an emotionally deep exploration of one’s inner dimensions. Physical perceptions may change and intensify and thoughts and visions will not necessarily be linear. Your feelings may intensify and deintensify during the trip.
►Never use mushrooms when alone. Only use them around people who you know and trust in a quiet and safe environment. If you feel anxious during your trip just try to keep calm.
►Don’t take mushrooms on a full stomach and make sure you are in a good mood before taking them.
►Avoid using mushrooms if you are suffering from schizophrenic disorders, psychoses, epilepsy, bipolar disorders or borderline personality disorder.
►Have you been using mushrooms too often? A drug counselor can help you.
Safer sex:
►Mushrooms can alter your reality, loosing how you act and prompting you to live out sexual fantasies. You may have unsafe sex, which increases the possibility of infection with HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
►Sex and mushrooms only mix if partners trust each other. Be sure to clarify in advance how far you are willing to go. Remember that there is always a danger of a bad trip.
►Use low doses so you can stay aware of what’s going on and can recognize your partner’s defense mechanisms.
►Before getting down to business, make sure you have enough lube, gloves and condoms ready.
►Pay attention to your body. If you notice something wrong, then visit a doctor immediately. Get tested for sexually transmitted infections every six months if you’ve often been changing partners. And get vaccinated against hepatitis A and B.
►If you are living with HIV and are taking mushrooms, consult with a doctor. Though it is generally not acutely dangerous to use mushrooms and HIV medication at the same time, using both at once can lead to an intensifcation of your trip.
